Hello

I'm new to the forum, just registered. I have been following badon's blog at LBC for a number of years, and my appetite has been growing ever since.
My main interest is in MCC, i do own a few in OMP, not much, but it's a start.. I intend to maybe list them someday for the EPCC application, but i'm ony a small time beginner yet. I have never submitted any coin for grading nor do i have a PCGS or NGC membership yet..

However i was reading through MCC list #183 and saw this new thread, so i decided to post my first post here, because i recently bought the only numismatic grade physical cryptocoin i'm currently aware of, which is the 2014 proof 0,01 BTC Sol Noctis Binary Eagle by the mint of poland, with a mintage of 2009.

a link to german muenzdachs.de as an example:

http://www.muenzdachs.de/001-BTC-Sol-Noctis-Binary-Eagle-Adler-Bitcoin-1-oz-Silber-PP-2014

there is also this bitcointalk threadi just found:

i must say it's a really nice coin, and the mint of poland usually produces consistently high quality coins, atleast that's my notion, again, i'm no expert. I would post a picture but i'm not sure about the copyright issues with posting coinimages taken from the webpages of various dealers, so i'll refrain from that until i know the guidelines.

Anyways, happy to have been able to register to this forum, and next i'll try to apply for access to the amazing coincompendium site, so i can start doing more research.

regards, mike

Welcome to CCF! It's good to have you hear, and I'm always eager to meet some of the quiet ones who read my articles.

Posting a photo for the purpose of discussion and research (which is what we do) is considered fair use under USA copyright law, and other countries tend to be less restrictive than the USA about copyrights. In general, a good guideline to follow is to ask yourself the question, "if I post this, will the original owner of the image lose profits somehow?". A good example of how I answered that question is here:

2016 July Pricepedia has badon's top 4 panda sets included

I included the type info, but censlored the price info, since the price info is the valuable thing that makes the Pricepedia worth paying for. Without the price info, I can show the images I want to show, without hurting the author's copyright needs.

I attached screenshots of the website you showed, for historical academic research purposes, which is another good example of fair use, because there appears to be nothing in the webpage that would lose its value if I record it here as part of our "fair use" of the publicly displayed information. I included a version translated to English in Google Translate too, which should be helpful, and is another example of fair use.

Once again, welcome to CCF, and I'm looking forward to having some discussions with you about the coins you collect!

I think that this would be a good project for me to add my first entry to the CC, as the only second entry into CCT7213: Physical cryptographic coins. I might do that at some point and then report on the forum.

You don't have the ability to edit or add new information to the CC yet. It's very easy to accidentally add a lot of slightly incorrect information to the CC, but it's not so easy to fix (alter) the data after it has been entered. That makes sense for an archival/historical project - it's easy to enter data, harder to change it later.

I'm a big fan of starting small in any new project, so if you want to gain the experience you will need before you graduate to gaining the ability to edit and add data, you can start by getting some practice with our procedures, which help us ensure accurate and complete data is recorded. There are new type confirmations that need a second pair of eyes and another brain to verify my research, here:

2011 brass Bitcoin Casascius 1 BTC error ANACS 65

I think the research is done, and I have a list of proposed types near the end of that topic, so if you want to dive in right away, you can start by studying the research that has been done and essentially perform a "peer review", as is the standard procedure in scientific disciplines. Ideally, you'll find some mistake or omission, or maybe you'll have some ideas about how the proposed types could be named or organized.
